Since this is the Ruger Forum, the only thing better than a shorty Marlin 1894
in 45 Colt, is a trio of shorty Vaquero's in 45 Colt.
The Marlin likes Hornady 240 XTP's or Nosler 260 Partitions over 19 grains
of 2400. For plinking, a 255 cast RNFP over 8.5 grains of Unique.
The shorty Vaquero's like a cast 255 SWC over 8.5, 9.0 or 10.0 grains of
Unique, depending on my mood. 10.0 grains averages 1000 fps +/- in
these shorty 45's.
Did I mention that I like white plastic grips!
