Shooting buddies.......

Everyone here, on this forum enjoys shooting, or we wouldn't be here. I like to shoot anytime or anywhere when possible. That being said, isn't it so much more fun to have someone to shoot with?

There are several members of this forum that I shoot with occasionally, but only one on a regular basis. That person is WAYNO. During a time this winter he was down with some malady and we couldn't hook up to have some shootin' fun.

Yesterday, we had a rare 50 something degree day with sunshine and managed to get out and shoot. Dang that was fun! After shooting we generally stand around BS-ing about guns we want to buy or sell and other issues of non-importance. Then we usually head to a restaurant or burger joint for lunch and BS some more.

It was just great to get out and shoot! Especially with a friend. :D

I'm used to it..... WAYNO out shoots me all the time. It doesn't bother me anymore! :roll:

I like both. I only have one friend, 40+ years, that likes to shoot, but we can only get together now and then because he's a trucker. I really enjoy shooting with my 2 oldest granddaughters, Kady and Blue. Those are my best of times because we make a day of it.

My favorite shooting I do by myself--shooting handguns off a bench at targets at 25 yds. I get so excited when I get 4 all touching, then one just a little out. I have one more chance to make a 3/4"- group. Then... :)

I do miss having a few good shooting buddies who have all moved on :(

Up til last year, we were both still working. Met often after work when it was 90-degrees, and too often I came home with a fried brain. We've both retired over this last year, and meeting at the range in the cooler part of the day is now so much nicer.

Jim Luke and others...Occasionally we have Ruger Forum folks that pass thru our area on business or vacation. We always absolutely invite you all to look us up when you're out this way. A day in paradise at the range, sharing some lies that folks elsewhere in the country have not yet heard, going to lunch, and even tasting a little whiskey keeps us out of trouble.

And for those of you that know, and are blessed with good friends, it's so nice to shoot all of Heliman's ammo.

My Dad is one of my favorite range partners, at 86 hard to do so much with him anymore. Other best partner went and moved across the country on me, not sure I can forgive him. We could leave the wives at home watching some chick flick while we went and got a bunch of Rugers dirty. Then when we got home he would sit down and clean all my guns while I cooked dinner for everyone. Girls were always happy, made for some great afternoons..

All my shooting friends can outshoot me. I think I shoot with some of the very best marksmen (and sadly one markswoman who is no longer with us) in the world. Of course I cannot shoot anywhere nearly as good as they but it is still fun to shoot with them.

The easiest way to remedy this is to not let them shoot your guns anymore!

Hee, hee, hee! I knew my comment about getting out shot would bring some interesting comments. Fellowship in any form, when the subject material is enjoyed by all, is one of the pleasures of life. Shooting happens to be ours here.
I think all of us would like to shoot better, and we strive to do so. And when we can't, we listen, watch, learn from our peers how to improve. Unfortunately, the curve always changes. When we are younger, we may not be able to afford to shoot as much, or not have friends who can teach us how to be better. Then, as we age, we have more time, but our eyes & other issues cause our abilities to suffer. But no matter when, we enjoy it & we strive to get "just a little bit better." And as we age, we realize that even if we do not get better, the fellowshiop of good friends makes all the difference in the world.

Oh, wizofwas,,, if you'd run out, I had a few thousand to play with! We are never short of ammo for the most part around here. Maybe the occasional odd caliber that I haven't gotten enough brass to load with yet may keep the numbers down, but that's a rare occasion.

It's this kind of fellowship that makes me enjoy hosting the East Coast Gathering each year.

Yup.... I'd be there, too. It always ends up taking place when I'm up in Minnesota protecting the world from marauding bands of ruffed grouse and murderous hoards of ducks.
