The exact reason I do not go to public ranges....too many unsupervised twits like these two.

I know this was a "set-up" & staged event. But poor gun handling, her fear of recoil, & all just made me cringe.
They should have started with a .22 caliber if nothing else to reduce the felt recoil. And they needed a Range Officer teaching them proper stuff.

I think the video was propaganda to appease the folks back home. Maybe telling them you don't need a gun or look how stupid the American gun culture is. I liked James May on Top Gear, but then the politics were not there.

You must have watched a different Top Gear than I did. They were always bashing Americans and American culture.
My point with the video was how frightened the woman was by the mere presence of a gun. In a similar vein, I read an article by a British woman who was freaked out when she realized that the cop standing next to her had a gun. Suddenly she felt unsafe.
Bashing some American automobiles and Customes expected from a British show. I don't remember much that was offensive. Of course European cars and American cars are built on two different premises If I remember they mocked a number of European cars even English cars.

Saw james at leno's, he acted bored even when when he thought he knew something jay dident. Jeremy was the one i watched the few i saw, and have several times watched his rigged testdrive of a reliant robin.

My late father had a girl friend from jolly olde England and they were entertaining some kinfolk from London with a dinner. I was there as well and I had my jacket placed on the back of my chait at the dinner table. There was a noticeable klunk and my Walther PPK .380 fell from the jacket pocket. When I picked it up and they saw if the gasps and looks of horror almost made me laugh. Dad's lady friend said that my life was threatened by an unsavory gentleman and the gun is for his protection. The year was 1967 and I was dating a divorcee whose ex-husband was not all that pleased with his ex-wife being with me. I left right after dinner to meet up with my lady friend and I'm betting those Brits were breath sighs of relief. Hoplophobia is nother new with the British, sad to say.

Stance is everything. I put Mickey ears on 3 cousins that were all about 10 or 11 and let them shoot 45 Colt out of a 7 1/2" Blackhawk. They burned a few hundred rounds with no flinching. I showed them a good form weaver stance with the right foot back like a boxer and they just let the muzzle rise. Although they were full power loads I told them they were light. And so they believed and relaxed and had fun.
We had some Chinese engineers over to learn a process. They were very interested in guns, but had never seen one in person, let alone touch one. One weekend I had them come over and first I gave them a couple hours of show and tell of an assortment of firearms followed by a couple hours of range time. They each said it was the best day of their life.
