I have been running through pictures in our old family albums that I received from my sister at her demise. Trying to sort out the different side of the family and keeping track of who goes with who and where they are now has been quite stressful. But I did come across a picture that stated 1955 which would put me and my sister in elementary school in Shreveport Louisiana going to the great AC Steer school on Ockley and Kings Highway. I thought it was a really neat grand old building and enjoy going to school there, but anyway it caught my attention because the picture is now at it's 75th anniversary and you have to add a few more years onto that for me . If I find a picture, I post one of the school. It's sort of an Adobe Western style and it was non-denominational. No air conditioning back in those days. We just pull up their window and let the breeze come through and hope that we didn't get assigned a seat that was on the sunny side of the classroom.
Maybe we'll play "where's Waldo" and see if you can guess which one I am - my sister sitting directly behind me. That's my one hint.

My mother took charge of my class photos and put them "somewhere safe." I believe that only one has surfaced in the forty years since she passed away.

If that's a recent photo of the school, it's great that it is still standing. I recently realized that most of the schools that I went to have been torn down. All of the "modern" buildings are gone but the schools that were built 100 years ago are still standing.

My high school opened in 1973 and was torn down a few years ago because it was "outdated." My father's high school opened in the 1920s, and in 1960 became a junior high (I went there for junior high), in 1973 it became an elementary school, and currently is an office building. My father's elementary school is still in use as an office building.

Not possible.

For a girl to be seated,, she'd have to be in the front row. The second & third rows have the students standing. So the third row is out.
And with only (4) boys in the front row with a girl directly behind them,, (all standing,, not seated,,,) you'd have to be in the front row.

So with a WAG,, I too will select the young boy in the front row,, third from the right,,but second from the right if you look at the girls behind him.

Love the nostalgia photos.
My wife's old high school band hall was converted to a restaurant several years ago.
She's the drum major front & center in the 1963 photo.
2nd pic is the same corner of the room today.
The 3rd pic is the half wall dividing the entry and dining areas today - looking towards that back corner, - with my wife's solo drum major portrait in the middle.

And to keep this Ruger photo-related, here is my Single Six I bought new in 1959 at age15 (ok - my dad was with me).
It still locks up tight and the action is smooth as butter.
