Service Dogs

I work in a hospital and whenever a veteran comes in with a service dog I bring the dog water with ice in it if I know they are there. I also do challenge coins for veterans and have given several in the ER which sometimes makes a difference. Just the fact that someone recognizes their service can make a difference in the quality of their visit. Last week there was a veteran amputee meeting that I happened to see while checking out a problem with some equipment. I brought water with ice for the 3 dogs that were in the meeting as well as coins for some of the vets that I had appropriate coins for. The response is great and I want nothing more than to honor their sacrifice. When a veteran asks me what they owe me for the coin I tell them that they paid for it in full with their service. The saying "All gave some and some gave all" is the absolute truth.
