Serial range for the Redhawk barrel issue

Just wondering if anyone has info about the earliest serial number known affected by the barrel separation issue? Or the earliest year of production affected?

Also curious about the latest serial affected, but I saw a recent post about a 2011 model with a broke barrel.

The two I saw from Ruger were 503-03087 and 503-03088 at the 1988 SHOT show, each had a pinned barrel, Ruger's apparent "quick fix" at the time, before they figured out what the culprit was. I'd say right about that sn range and just before is where the problem guns could be.

Interesting... I was thinking the issue was in the 500 series, but the 86, 87, 88 era also is suspect, and of course, whatever the 2011 gun was recently reported.

Anyone know of any earlier serials affected?

I gotta be honest with you. This problem with the barrel grease was very isolated, but Ruger found out what the issue was and took care of it. If it wasn't an isolated incident, they most assuredly would have had a recall.
Ruger has built well over 300,000 Redhawks and I suppose there are those out there who think every one of them are bad. It just ain't so.

I'm one of the very few folks who had a barrel seperate from the frame. My serial number was; 501-10445.

I realize the incidents are not a large number but it would help to have some specifics about the guns affected. If I had a gun close to the serial above, I would surely pay close attention to my gun and most likely send it to the factory for inspection.

This may be a dumb question, but is there any real danger to the shooter when this happens? I know bullet placement could be way off wich could be a danger to something down range, and I would not want to be fending off a mad grizzly bear when my revolver failed. All that aside is the shooter in any danger a pair of safety glasses would take care of?
