Security Six Front Sight ?

Wisconsin is finally joining the rest of the free world and allowing concealed carry. I have several options of carry guns. I am thinking of maybe carrying my security six at times. It is a decent condition shooter 2.75 barrel. It is very accurate. But that is only when I have the time to concentrate on aiming. A black blade in a black notch is not a good combination for my crappy eyes. So I am looking for suggestions for a new front sight. I don't want to paint it as the gun will he holstered and I know the paint is not going to last. Anyone know of a fiber optic replacement? I know XS makes a set but don't know if I want to spend the 90 bucks. Any experience with the XS? I have a XS front on my LCR but don't have any experience with the style of rear sight blade that XS includes with the Security Six set. Thanks for any advice.

You'll be surprised how long a well applied touch of Testor's model paint will last. I use chartreuse or yellow. Clean sight well with alcohol before applying with a toothpick.

I have to agree with Mobuck. Thats what I did with my SP101 and it has held up very well and makes the sight much easier to use. Just apply the first coat and let it dry well, then apply a 2nd coat. Its not an SS but this is what it looks like on my SP101.

Aside from paint Numrich offers a Pennsylvania State Police Models, Stainless w/Orange Insert ( http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Detail.aspx?pid=1218200&catid=8353 ); one could also have the local gunsmith put a sight insert in the existing sight in a color of your choice. At one time Millett offered orange and white sights for about $20 but they seem to have gotten out of the sight business. If you go the gunsmith route while the gun is there he could also get a white outline blade for the rear sight and install it. Magnaport offers a C-More sight made out of translucent colors in several colors; you would probably have to file to the correct height.

Fiber-optic blades tend to be a bit fragile for everyday use in a holster. I'd try the paint. If it works for you, then you could do the Numrich sight as a permanent fix. The Testor's paint holds up pretty well, though.
