Security 9 safety

I have a new Security 9 and I find it hard to use the safety. Is it advisable to lubricate it ?

I have a Security 380 which has the same safety. I find that I engage it with my left hand rather than my right thumb. Seems to be a bit harder to engage then to disengage. To disengage I use my right thumb with no problem. As far as lube ... I lube everything that moves.
