Picked up number two today. Thoroughly nit-picked: This one's barrel/cylinder gap is a tight .007, where the first one is a tight .006. Trigger is a little smoother on number one. Some tiny differences where one is better than the other, but all good and average equal.

Best thing is the 2nd EWK ejector housing fits just like the first, and Eric has sent me housing number 3 so I'll still have a spare.

Didn't have to have two, but these little guns are amazing. Like a Swiss watch compared to my other Rugers. Two is comforting, and if I'm happy with two, I want them from the same batch at least. My credit card will be a while cooling down, as I've bought spare parts, holsters, and grips too.

Serial on today's buy is 131 higher than first, and spent casing dates are twelve days apart. So that's an average of only 11 guns a day.

These guns are not shipped that way. Serial number 1000 my be shipped before serial number 100, and serial number 5000 may be shipped before either of the other two.

You stainless New Bearcat Owners need to keep your eyes peeled for examples with Long Rifle cylinders that do NOT have a firing pin groove.

The RENE reference I have handy does NOT mention this variation, at least not that I have seen......

You need the latest Issue. It States:

SBC4 and KSB4 without firing pin groove in cylinder. Produced in error, the first 270 KSB4 that were shipped did not have this groove. There are slightly more then this, perhaps 300. KSBC4 known s/n range 93-19538 to 93-21176. The SBC4 is a lot rarer of this variety with only five known (s/n 93-01966, 93-0272, 93-02073, 93-02111 and 93-11000

I know most Rugers are that way, but maybe not these. When I called Newport with my parts order, the rep told me they are an allocated gun right now, and I may have a wait on the full order. It did take them over a week to piece it together. She said they were shipping each gun order as soon as it finished, so I don't think there was much of a serial range on the racks. My "eleven a day" is likely way off, more around 30 maybe.

When you think about it, the first New Bearcat was 93-00001 in -93, and it's just now hitting -51000. That's low production for 17 years, averages about 3000 a year, for both finishes.
