I have a ruger gp 100 stainless 357 revolver was wondering what scope or red dot sight you recommend

I've been using a Burris for 20+ years with no problems.
Nikon for a scope, and Ultradot for a Red Dot. I have both on 44 mags and they work well for me.

Burris is great unless you need to use their customer service and repair department. After my last two experiences with them I will never buy another Burris product. Took between four and six months to get my scopes finally fixed and not in worse condition than how they were sent in.

Leupold if it's a fixed power (their variables are too big).

I put a Leupold compact 2x7 on my favorite deer rifle, a tang safety .243 RL, when it was new. Liked it so much I bought one for my boy's Rem. Youth .243.
A minor nit to pick with them: Mine don't have click windage and elevation adjustments. They never came out of zero, but I prefer click adjustments.
The absolute clearest scope I ever had the pleasure to look thru was a Burris 2x handgun scope. It blew my Leupold 2x handgun scope away with its clarity.
I'd at least take a look at what Nikon offers. Forum members have rated them highly.
PS: Jimbo, do you own that? I have a similar one mounted on my Ruger Mark ll Competition. Just put a new battery in it last night. Tasco discontinued it or it was bought out. Mine ran about $125. Here's a bad pic:

I put an inexpensive Swift fixed power scope on my 480 Ruger SRH, just to test out a scope on a handgun without investing too much money. I have shot several hundreds of rounds and lugged it around quiet a bit without problems.
One of the main things that attracted me to the Swift was that it was extremely easy to find the reticle (Better than any other I tried).
Some other brands, you had to be almost perfectly inline with the scope before you could see anything at all, much less the reticle. It was not an easy thing to do because all you see is the black of the inside of the tube (you do not have a stock to get your head inline with a pistol).
If anyone tries a swift I think that they will be very supprised at how user friendly it is. That feature alone sold me on the swift (the low $100 price tag helped as well).
