I just picked up this beauty today from my LGS. When I bought it I was expecting an SC5 but when I looked at the box I noticed it said SC6. The S/N on the box looks like it came from the factory and the S/N on the mag cylinder is correct for the gun. Does anyone have knowledge if this has happen before?

it was a "Friday" gun, in a hurry to get out of there, seen it before, even in the New Models, they only had the two basic boxes,a RST-4 and the Blackhawk 357 mag. and the end labels changed for the gun put in the box that "fit".......

and the old models they used a white label "cover up"....class dismissed:cool:;)

yes get the letter, BUT still never know what the "shipper" was looking at when he ( or she) processed it to ship...looked at the end label?? or actually open the box and look at the gun itself,,,,,sooooo even the records ( letter?) could be wrong.....just maybe there was a "small" white piece of tape or 'sticker' that had the shorter barrel (SC5)designation pasted over the 6 inch.,(SC6) printing.....hmmmmm:unsure::rolleyes:

....if only it could talk, not just go bang......;)

True. Looking at the end I didn't notice any sticker residue. It was the first thing I looked for knowing that they put stickers on boxes if they ran out.

Here are the vaqueros. Same model number different grip frames. You can see serial numbers that match box. We are dealer FFL and my wife ordered a few of these i think from lipseys and one came wrong. So I kept these two for myself. I just think it's interesting.

Letter won't tell ya what box it was shipped in but would be interested in what barrel length was recorded. I've had a couple missed boxed guns. One was a super single six SC5 shipped in a SC6 box. Another time we ordered some Vaqueros and one had a Bisley grip
No it won't, but I am fairly positive what I have came from the factory just like yours. They are cool finds just the same.

It looks like factory "scribbling" on the box. I would be curious to see how it letters. Wouldn't surprise me if it comes back as SC6
Just human error.
We purchased 21 "D" guns once from a distributor. When they got here 7 of the 21 either didn't have a "D" beside the serial number or were a completely different model than what was indicated on the box.
