At our church today we had a missionary couple visiting (Mission Emphasis Month at our church) who are missionaries to Cambodia. They had a display set up in the foyer with a map, prayer cards, and artifacts from the area.

One item was a water buffalo's head, carved from teak, and was a slingshot, using the horns for the arms. Very well done, with black stones for eyes and well carved, but, obviously, a sling shot.

Well not so obvious, as one lady of our congregation looked at it and remarked "What an unusual necklace!"

She has had no children, I might add.

I'd like to see that. Sounds interesting.

LOL! I thought the same thing. So I googled it, lots of Google images of buffalo slingshots. The big surprise you can get one from Amazon! They have everything.

Bob, is this one similar? I can see were it would look like a necklace to somebody who never had to check an eight year old for weapons.

The mental image of a well traveled woman coming home from abroad wearing a slingshot for a necklace is pretty funny.

No, not like that. The whole head was the handle, and the shooter sort of gripped it around the snout. And the horns were the arms to which the bands were attached. And being of teak wood, was really sort of handsome.
