Savage 99

This was one of my late fathers deer rifles. A 99E in 308. I have had it for years now and all it has done was occupy a spot in the back of my safe. I decided it was time to get it back into action and found the Weaver 3x wideview scope at the Tulsa show a few weekends ago. It is completely refurbished and the glass looks like new! Our fellow member Mr. Don Garlitz responded to my wtb ad and set me up with the Redfield base and rings. Thanks again Don!

I am planning on carrying it on this falls deer hunt. Some areas I hunt are heavy brush and timber and quick shots are needed and the range isn't all that far. I'm thinking it will do the trick!

Thanks! This is one I talked about on another post here that I would like to find another stock set for. Doesn't have to be fancy but I would like a decent set of walnut for it.

Last time I shot it was probably 15 years ago when my dad had it out before season one year. It didn't ever seem to shoot too bad for an old lever gun.

We had a much-loved old school game warden around here who loved Savage 99s. Only gun he seemed to have much interest in. He would come into the gunshops I frequented and one where I worked part-time, and all he wanted to know was did they have any Savage 99s. He had a few. Always wondered what became of them after he passed.

Nice 99. Great little rifles. Have one in 300 Savage and 30-30. Need to get them out.

I'll have to take more pics and post in the future. The only reason I have that one is because it was my last whitetail hunt before moving to Alaska.. That was my last buck. I also shot a doe later that day... but it was getting to late for decent pics..
