After asking members of this forum for help, I decided to go with the 44mag with the 2X Burris scope. The pistol is flawless and the scope is perfect as well. I am working with the Lee TL240 SWC bullet and some Nosler 240gr sp sporting bullets. My powders are 2400, H110 and Unique. Any help with the reloading area would be appreciated.

A max load of H110 and a 260gr Keith boolit in my .44mag SRH does very well. Of coarse work up to a max charge....
I have that same gun in .45 colt and its a real shooter! Enjoy it.

I've had good luck with the TL240 at around 1,000 fps. I've heard folks say they've driven TL'ed slugs fast, never tried it personally. I've maybe gone up to maybe 1,200 fps with other TL slugs. I'll bet you can get an accurate 1,100-1,200 fps load with the Unique.

My SBHBH seems most happy with a 300gr Beartooth WFNGC over 22.5gr of H-110 and a Win LPP or Fed 150 LPP (not magnums).
Have them sized .431 and you are in business. (.430 or .429 caused too much leading and inaccuracy)

This load is close to a top end load and is pushing the bullet around 1350 fps
Recoil is pretty energetic but the weight of the SBHH and Scope absorbs it very well and makes it pretty easy to shoot.

It will easily do 4" at 100yds with a red dot sight.

My Bisley Hunter in .44 likes a 260gr. WFNGC at about 1100fps(11gr. Unique). The .44, with hard cast bullets, penetrates and kills excellent, with less than top-end loads. I am not a recoil junkie, yet I prefer a .44mg. revolver, because it kills great with the pedestrian loads I shoot.

Try Oregon Trail 310gr True Shot over 20.5 grains of H110/W296 with magnum primer for an excellent, all-around cartridge that will take anything in the continental U.S. Velocity is 1200+fps.

Some people think that it is overkill for deer, but I've taken five with this load and it is a real thumper of a cartridge. The bullet does not expand and punches through deer like through butter.

This load recoils with what I would call a "heavy push", rather than the sharp, wrist-wrenching 240 gr loads that are around the same velocity.
