Rugeritis strikes again

I just got home with my latest purchase. An unconverted .357 magnum. The tag said /box so I inquired and was a bit disappointed when the salesguy came out with a replacement plastic box. It was only a little bit over my budget so I decided to pull the trigger on it. Not sure if the grips are original or not. Serial# is 1378xx. Paid just over $400. I probably overpaid a bit so feel free to laugh at me behind my back. Still, it looks in pretty good shape. Can't wait to shoot it.

Looks nice from the photo. Not the best price but not too bad either. Hang on to it as it will hold its value.

May have jumped the gun on the grips thing. I didn't realize they shipped with walnut grips as well as the hard rubber ones.

I concur, a very fair deal. And the grips do appear to be correct for that vintage.

Good buy and good gun. Grips/medallions are correct for your serial number. Hard Rubber grips were no longer issued by that date, 1968. Medallions didn't change until 1971.

I figure if you can pick up a decent 3 screw for less than what a brand new one would cost you (or close to it anyhow), you are ahead of the game.

I have replaced all but one of my new models with three screws and most were less than a brand new gun. I say you did great.

The store had another one priced about $125 more than the one I bought but as I knew it was completely out of my range and they were quite busy I didn't want to bother the salesguy to take a look at it knowing I wasn't going to buy it. Though I probably should have asked what the serial # was. That one might have had the original box.

I don't know enough about three screws to know if you got a deal or not but it is a nice looking piece. If you are happy with it then it is a bargain.

Nice revolver, you didn't get hurt. Shoot it, take care of it, and you'll get more than your money back. What other things in life can you spend your money on, have fun with it for years, then turn around and sell it for more than you paid?
