Why is the forum "Not secure"?
We are subject to cyber attacks and our personal information may be compromised or our computers may have spyware or other malware vulnerabilities.
How much does it cost to secure this website?

It's a googler money grab. They initiated it a few years back. If you don't buy a SSL certificate they mark you as Not Secure.

I had to add it to my biz website. Pre certificate I was marked as unsafe. Checking on what they flagged as unsafe I found they marked my pictures (.JPG's) as unsafe files. Post certificate and zero site changes all is good. If it's a commerce site I'd be concerned. A forum not so much.

Gee, I was going to post my Social Security number, my bank account number, my driver's license number, and some other stuff. Guess I won't.

I run Linux, so I'm a bit less vulnerable than those who run Windows, but "cybersecurity" is a false comfort. A dedicated hacker can get you. And yeah... the "certificate" doesn't really guarantee anything.

Secure enough as far as I'm concerned! This is a gun forum not a bank!
Do not list your bank accounts or your firearms and serial numbers!
Have some Common sense people! and enjoy so far so good! :D :D

Or EMAIL address! :!:

Have members communicate with you by PM.

I used to get the same warning on many government websites on a daily basis - back when I frequented government websites.

if this place had captcha, id never be able to post here. dial up doesnt like captchas. spools and freezes.
id have to say goodbye.

I think the Captcha is only for new members to join the website. After they have joined, you don’t have to do the Captcha anymore.

Lots of times I see some little box that you have to click. All it says is “I’m not a robot.” I’m not sure if that is for security or not. Kind of silly really.

I thought dialup was dead a decade ago. Is broadband not available where you are? Just curious.

Somehow I feel that is the least of the problems ln this site. Getting the CAPTCHA back in operation would be a huge plus.

Hi,

I have to go thru CAPTCHA several times a day, sometimes quickly, sometimes as slowly as molasses in January, and I certainly don't share your desire to see it added here. There are many times my mental picture of the guy who invented it involve a tree out back, some rope or handcuff grade zip ties and a good horsewhip. We've all been hacked--how many times from how many places? I dunno. But I share the thought that a forum is probably not a prime target.
