Just received a yankee screwdriver. I have been looking for the long variation for some time now. I have had 2 of the shorter ones (I was told they are the harder one to find). The bonus was the bit (CHROME VAN) marked on the side..

It's stuff like this that makes me purposely stay away for the tools. TOO cool to just have one. :)

Terry, That Ebay link just happens to be the longer variation I just got... I have heard of them selling as high as 1000.00

I would like to find more of the bits and possibly some advertisements on the tools :)

T.A. Thanks for the link I've got some Yankee screwdrivers for some reason I thought RPM's were Ruger drivers guess I should look a little closer. ps :D

Come to think of it, my grandfather had a couple of this type. No idea if they were Ruger Corp ones but now my curiosity is coming through. Wonder where they are...

I wondered who got that screwdriver. At least it went to a good home,,! It's nice to see a pair like that together,,,! Way to go Rick!

Shucks! A couple of years ago I had a spare long variation...have never been able to come up with the short one.

:D Nice grab Rick, I bid on that early, but I've been finding tooo many nice guns, and other memoribilia this winter...had to stop and hope you and Shawn hadn't seen it yet!!!!! RB

Greg, You should know better. Not much gets by Shawn and myself. Hey I got thinking about your PM question and another way to tell the difference is the long drivers are automatic and short ones are manual. So if you unlock it and the shaft comes out on its own (spring loaded) it is the long variation. The short one you have to pull it manually. If you still need the measurements I will post them...

Greg, I just sold a short one a while back. It went way of Texas and also had the "CHROME VAN" bit. Sometimes I do let go of some of that hard to get stuf

 Well, I suppose that goofy Texan with the nice single sixes scattered all over the board for a display got that one! Hey, if you get another short one, or one of the hand drills with the adjustable handle I'd like to have one. Oh, and of course the shoulder stock one also...Greg

OK, now you guys got me wondering. I have a Yankee screwdriver, and wonder about its age and value. It is marked: #30A, North Bros MFG, Phila PA, Made in United States of America. It is in very good shape, shy of paint splatters on it. Do I have anything of collector staus?
Thanks

Rumrunner, Yours is a very common driver. Its worth about 10.00 to 20.00. The drivers we are talking about were produced by Bill Ruger before him and Sturm formed the Sturm Ruger company and produced that little auto pistol in 1949.
