New member here, but not new to ruger revolvers. My question is on the vaquero 45 acp and 45 lc interchangleble barrels. Would it be as accurate as my 45 lc vaquero? Because my single six sure isn't. Thanks!

The Rugers with interchangeable cylinders sometimes shoot even better with the .45 acp cyl. Not sure about the interchangeable barrels?

You mean, Tellico, you don't have one of them new model switch barrel setups? Weren't they were clean up goes from a couple years ago? :D

Seriously to the OP. My single six shoots better with the the 22 wmr cylinder than the 22 LR. cylinder also.

Ditto. Shooting .45 ACP can be just as accurate as .45 Colt from a convertible. You swap cylinders, not barrels. Barrels are all .451. Whether a New Vaquero or the original Vaquero (or the BHs) . I, of course, prefer the .45 Colt... but that's just me!

Of course the bug-a-boo with any .45 Colt / .45 ACP Ruger revolver is the cylinder throats. Most times you have to get them reamed to .4525 to make 'em shoot right. Had to do all of mine.

Bahàaaa. Y'all got me on the barrel cylinder mix up. Thanks for the info. I've bent thinking about getting another convertible but I was as hesitant because of the accuracy issue I've had with the single six. I love the 45 colt but the ammo prices are much higher than of course 45acp.

Two guns of the same model may shoot entirely differently. There is no inherent issue with the .45 convertibles other than the well known throat size issue and that is easily remedied.. I own a half dozen of them and let me tell you the most accurate .45 I own is my Blackhawk .45 convertable with the 6 1/2" barrel.
With .45 ACP`s and Hornady 200 gr. XTP bullets it will make a five shot ,one ragged hole group at 25 yard rested that you can cover with a quarter. Amazingly accurate.

The problem with the.22 is long rifle and .22 magnum bullets are different diameter and a barrel rifled for one will not be accurate with the other. Usually! Only .223 versus .224 but it makes a difference. Both .45 rounds use .451 Jacketed and .452 lead. Again Usually! Each gun is an entity unto itself.
