Ruger Vaquero SS 45 Colt TALO edition

Kind of excited,
I have been looking for at a Ruger Vaquero Talo edition at the LGS for a little while. Three weeks ago I sent a tex picture to my buddy about the gun. He was really interested in one. He spent to much this month so he did not buy it. I told my boss about it yesterday, he said that he was going to stop by the shop today and put it in Layaway. I have been reading up on it and decided that if my boss did not buy it that I would today. I waited till I knew the boss had to be on his way to work, as I also had to be on my way to work. I knew he could not have time to stop by the LGS if he had not already done so. I called the LGS after the wait and asked if he still had it. He said yes, I asked him to put it back and I would be there in the morning to pick it up. I am a very good customer and buy a tone off of this LGS, I knew he wouold put it back no problem.As he did do that for me.
I have never owned a Vaquero, so really looking foward to getting it. What do you guy's think of the Talo edition of the Vaquero ?
I have owned Blackhawk and never could hit the side of a barn with one but I would like to try the Vaquero especially with this 3 3/4" barrel. It will go great with my 45 Colt Redhawk and my 3 45 Colt Lever action rifles.

I own several Vaqueros & a few New Vaqueros. They handle quite well,,, and once you regulate the ammo to one,,, can be very accurate. (Just ask sixshot about one of mine! :D )
I don't have the one you have,,, but I do own a few in Colt.

Well picked the Vaquero up this morning. It is not a TALO edition like I thought. It was made Aug. 2002. So it is an Old model Vaquero. Really in pretty good shape.
Beautiful revolver. Now to get it to the range this weekend. Happy Happy, Happy :)

I have the TALO edition that you thought this was.

I hope you have better luck shooting yours...I have never been able to hit very well at all, with mine. My son, that is a very gun handgun shot, has had them same result with it. Must be something specific to us. So, suffice it to say, it is a safe queen.

That's a nice older Birdshead! I have NV Birdshead in .45 ACP.

So when you shoot your SA guns are your shots hitting high or low?

I also made this little .45 Colt Birdie out of the Taylors Running Iron which has the slicked up action from the factory. They both shoot very well.

I do not remember, I've purchased 3 Blackhawks over the years and keep thinking that I got a bad gun. Now I am convinced that the guns were probably fine and I just can't shoot a single action.
I can shoot my GP100 and my 3 Redhawks lights out. But the Blackhawks I have alway's sucked at. One thing I have alway's hated the plow grip but even when I bought the Bisley grip I sucked with them. Don't know why. I am hoping that I am much better with this Vaquero.

We have determined that it is the birdshead grip as we have no issues with any other single actions.

I am hoping with my small hands the birds head grip works well for me. I am crossing my fingers.

When I take out my Ruger 1911 to shoot I can just put it on target easily even if I haven't shot it in a while. With the SA revolvers it may take a few shots to remember where to hold on target as each one is a bit different.
