The most obvious is the addition of a good set of sights for a Vaquero, and all-steel sights for Blackhawks.

Huh?

I say every change is a good one, as it's for us individually. I'm sure there are a few out there somewhere that think it's awful to have a stainless sixgun. But I've got a few, and I'm not backing down.

I think what you've got is a great article, keep bringing it.

Woo Hoo. I made the list. Must have done something right as a newbie. (one of my pictures is in there) (but really I got the idea from Sharps40) Loading gate mod.

I tried to post a comment but couldn't prove I wasn't a bot.

Stainless Vaqueros can get a nasty "flare" at the top of the front sight on a bright day that makes precise sighting difficult. A simple fix is to simply use a file to eliminate the rear radius and change it to an angled flat. A further mod for those who enjoy shooting waaaayyyy out there is to file horizontal lines on the face of the newly created flat that correspond with the sight holdover at 100, 150, and 200 yards (or longer depending on caliber and optimism of the shooter). Filling the grooves with gold helps them pop. This mod courtesy of Elmer Keith, and it's a good one.
