I picked up a 6.5 Creedmore Friday @ Zanders. 28 inch barrel. They now have a new name ? Hawkeye. ? I guess I will still refer to it as the Target rifle. Old school still yet. Will hopefully be expanding my range later this summer. I only have one bullet trap @ 100 yards. Two options for 250 + 300 yards. Need to get with my two dirt movers and see how high they can make the back stop. More info as it develops.. 8)

As a side note I have discovered some one is using my tag of CLAYPOOL on Gun Broker.. Not good kids. I challenge them to a duel..

Looks like this week at least, they are calling all of their Non-Rotary Mag 77's Hawkeye. Regardless, the version you bought can be a real shooter. My brother bought a 25-06 Target a few years ago (when they were caled Target) & it loves the 100BT.

Here is a good article on what you bought, quite impressive!

Good luck with yours

I have a few of the Target 77s to include the 6.5. I'd like the barrels to be a bit heavier, but I like the trigger and stock, especially the forend. Sits on sandbags really well.

My 6.5 likes the Sierra 140 BTHP MK, that should work out well for 300 yd shooting. Considering how flat downstate is (relatives are in Herrin) if you use the Berger 140 VLD the bullet should touch down somewhere around Paducah .....

Zanders is still low on lots of items. We were talking to one of the daughters last Friday and she thinks things are getting ready to slack up. Old coal term. I look @ the inventory every night and a few things here and there. I was hoping a year ago that would happen..

I spent dealer price on that rifle and the rear mount had a bent screw in it. Sure didn't like spending that money and having to work on it right out of the box. Removed the screw, very carefully, and chased treads with tap. Installed new one. Didn't want to wait for a new mount from them..

I did pick up 2 boxes of Winchester 140's this Friday when we went to Zanders. They had just got in on Thursday 20 boxes.

Lapped the rings, and bore sighted the scope. I am trying a straight 10 power Elite. With "Rain Guard". I like their products and most importantly "I" can see good threw them. I have various scope that I have bought over the years. Burris Ballist Plexs are a "Fav". We will see, ( no pun intended". Most of the shooting around central Southern Illinois is 10 power or less because of different atmosphere conditions. Dust is a big one. More as we can.

Claypool. I was going to advise that some of the WW 6.5 ammo is out, but I see that you already know. I too, have had good luck with the Bushnell Elite scopes. I can't see as good with my 63 year old eyes as I previously could and the quick focus on the Bushnells seems to work well for me. I'm going to order some of the WW 6.5 CM ammo(for my A-Bolt) today as well as a Bushnell 2x7x32 BDC scope for my Anniversary 10-22. Best shooting in Illinois! Bob! 8)
