I hope this happens.

When the government gets out of it I may get one though I see no end in sight.

"When the government gets out of it"

I'm betting it goes the other way with no more new ones and maybe no "Grandfathered" one made this century. Given the opportunity, BATFE will go apesheet and pull all the stamps ASAP.

$450.00 is a little much, around here suppressors are about $200.00.
What brand and where? I know the tax stamp is $200 but most silencers I have looked at start in the low $500's.

The way I hear it (pun intended ) we should be required to pay a $200 tax stamp to own a firearm WITHOUT a suppressor.

Especially since a bad round wrecked the hearing in my right ear three weeks ago

Willk, Interesting that you mentioned the damaged hearing benefit to silencers. Most state/local governments are afraid to deny permission (unless the State specifically bans them) because of possible lawsuits related to hearing damage.

The idea that mufflers are required on cars but restricted on firearms is rather odd. Maxim, who held the first silencer patent, used the same technology to patent the first car mufflers.

To those who object to the word silencer, that is what the inventor named them.

I don't have "proof" of what I did pay, but I thought the AAC Pilot II was ~$200, but that was several years ago. that was suppose to be the cheapest that my dealer would recommend.

I price suppressors at silencershop.com. I have purchased 2 from them in the past. In my opinion the silencerco Spectre II is the 22 suppressor all others are compared to. I have this one and am extremely pleased with it.

I would love to have one for my LC9s for concealed carry. Then if I ever have to use my gun for self defense, I won't wake up the whole neighborhood or hurt my already poor hearing. I guess it would take changes in both Federal and State law to let this happen.
