Well, I now find that the Ruger Super Redhawk hammer is really too small, especially with a scope on it. I would like it to be wider and longer something like the S&W older Target hammer. Is there any way to change it outright for an aftermarket larger hammer or any Custom Shops that do this work?

Your better smiths like Harton could easily graft on an extension. I might consider one of those add ons used for lever guns first tho.... I use em on my Contenders, they might be what the Dr ordered for your thumb.

2 dogs is recommending something like this. Maybe they make one to fit your Redhawk.

Now that might just work! :)

Where do I get them over the internet?

Also, I need a replacement ramrod for my TC encore muzzleloader. A really good one, any suggestions?

Was fiddling with a scoped Redhawk a couple weeks back, the hammer wasn't a problem for me.
But & anyway, I asked Bowen a while back if he could weld & re-configure a Redhawk hammer, said he didn't want to mess with it.

Maybe I have a "junky" one, but I have one on my scoped .45/70 Handi Rifle and the dang thing is forever "losing it's grip" on the hammer...

(The set screw that is)

I've never had a problem with it coming loose. That's not a 45/70 barrel but it does get it's dose of fairly heavy .44 magnums.
