Stopped by local GS this afternoon to just see what might be there. Left with this 1954 Standard. Very good shape. No rust and very little wear. Just a few knicks and dings an old gun would have.

I had to re-look at the title due to comments above.
I guess I'm a bit jaded, as I'm in the RIMFIRE section, and in my mind,, a Ruger STD easily meant Standard Auto!!!!
Besides Std was the abbreviation for Standard long before the current thought process may think it means. Maybe the all caps did it??
Now,, I know you are a MKII guy but you are also fond enough of them to NOT allow a good deal on such a great old Ruger Standard slip by you! KUDOS!!!!!

Yes, the caps did it. Unlike others here that think misspellings are fine as long as someone can understand the comment, I know for a fact there is a difference between "std." and "STD". In the end, I would have written the proper word "Standard" to prevent any misunderstanding but I am in the minority these days. And no, I did not think the topic was about an STD, I figured it was a cute way to say he was hooked on buying Rugers as if shopping for them is like a disease. But only until I decided to open the topic to see what the error was. Didn't look at what sub-forum it was in because I read topics by "new posts" list, not by section. So all I see is a list of titles and yes, "Ruger STD" stands out.

I thought it was a new was to describe the dreaded Rugeritis so many of us are affiliated with.

If you bought it off of a toilet seat I would be suspicious. A 71 year old STD might be hard to explain.

Mine is an '81-83 one so maybe it's a MKII. It's not stainless and is missing a lot of blue. Tackle box gun I got from a neighbor before is death.
