Ruger

I cannot imagine them wanting to move those lines out of Newport, the institutional knowledge of the line employees will be difficult, if not impossible, to duplicate in Mayodan. I am hoping that they are just trying to figure out how to build them more economically than in the past so they have paused them to train new employees who will make less per hour and perhaps work faster.

There are many folks up in Newport who are suggesting that they WANT and NEED Beretta to buy the company, they told me in cannot happen fast enough. My comment back was to be careful what you wish for!!
Can you imagine the Single Action line is "shut down"....Just thinking about that is like a kick in the you know whats....and just hearing that the folks in Newport Want and Need for Beretta to take over. This is all like a very bad dream....Yes, it is 2026 and Bill and Bill Jr for that matter are gone.....but just thinking about this if one has been shooting Rugers for about close to 50 yrs is just plain unbelievable. Maybe this is how the fans of H&R and High Standard and all the others felt...
.

Yeah, you are very probably right on that. I guess that makes me a dinosaur. My idea of an assault rifle is a good old fashioned Marlin 336 lever action or even a Winchester Trapper. I have always loved the old lever actions guns.
Assault rifles never tickled my fancy. I guess I am very odd in that respect.

Beretta has bought 10 percent of Ruger stocks and is going for a takeover .They just bought Holland and Holland redid the company very well .Ruger has gone down hill latetly and was headed in the wrong direction .I own a bunch of clasic rugers 77 and blackhawks and redhawks .I hope they willvput the ruger 77 in full production and get rid of the ruger American .I dont want Ruger to disapear just to get better .

There are roughly 10 different threads on this already..... Just sayin, this could have been added to any one of them....

The Ruger American is a damn fine rifle, especially at it's price point. Is it better than a Hawkeye? Not in looks, but I would dare say they shoot as well or better. I own both. As long as people are wanting a good, accurate, budget friendly, rifle, the American is here to stay, and I am 100% okay with that.

Merge what ?? Beretta and Ruger ?? Nah, I'll just stick with Sturm, Ruger & Company
Too late to stick with Sturm. They have been fazing his name out for years.

When Mike Fifer took the S off the logo it signaled a shift in priorities. Down hill from there.

No history no corporate loyalty Ruger has lost it’s way.

Bill was the rudder, a ship without a rudder doesn’t get anywhere without a tug boat.

Beretta is the tugboat.

My gut tells me Ruger needs Beretta. Maybe I just need a Tums.

Somewhere in between the two different statements of the companies is the actual truth. We will probably never know exactly what has been going on behind the scenes.
I probably trust the Ruger version a little more than I do the Beretta version. One does not want to take over a company simply because "they want to see it live up to it's potential."

Oh, to go back in time....Can you imagine these Beretta guys trying to say all of this stuff to Bill Ruger himself ? I don't think so..

Mr. Ruger may have been very impressed with Beretta. Possibly anxious to learn from them and even incorporate some of their wisdom and knowledge into his operations.

This year Beretta is 500 years old. They’re in their 15th generation of family ownership. For goodness sake, their business is twice the age of our country.

What did Sturm, Ruger & Co make it? Two generations and 50 years?

Hittman, I can't argue any of that at all. What can I say other than I don't like "change".....I guess I am getting older now, but let's face it. This is one heck of a change....I guess it is what it is...

Yeah sure but no one had heard of them until the 20th century. There's a company in Japan that's been around for 1,400 years but no one outside of Japan knows about them.

I'd say that Beretta's biggest strength is they haven't gone public. That usually doesn't go well for family businesses.

Ruger has on the website three 250th Anniversary 10/22 rifles:

Kind of digging the blue composite and the engraved walnut. Might have to look at picking one or both up....

Because I need another 10/22.....

I was worried when Beretta bought 10 percrnt of ruger now they have 30 percent of the stock for a take over .I hope if they do they make a full comeback of the Ruger 77 .Ruger lost me with the ruger americsn .I hope Ruger is made way better if they do this takeover .

I don't think they have 30% yet. They made an offer for 30%.

Yes, that is correct. Part of their tender offer is to purchase an additional 20.05 to add to their existing 9.95 to make it an even 30%.....evem at 9.95, they are still the largest stockholder anyway I think .

A thought. Blackrock is second highest share holder & vanguard is 3rd. vanguard is the highest shareholder of Blackrock. If they were to pool their resources they'd be hard to stop if they had intent.

Looking like a buyout might happen. Best that Beretta is the one IMO. It could be a hell of a lot worse.
