Ruger SR9 failure to eject.

I have an SR9 with 1700 rounds through it. I have had 5 failures to extract (double feeds). The last 3 occurred in the last 300 shots. Yes my gun is clean and lubed. I'm starting to get a little scared that I'll have a malfunction when I need to use my weapon for real. How many should I have before I need to send it back? Any ideas on how to fix it?

You could replace the extractor and see but it hasn't been a real big problem with the SR series from what I've gathered. Most often it's attributed to limp wristing (not firm enough grip). As far as how many, that would be enough for me to take some measure to resolve.

Is it a failure to eject or failure to extract?

I went to the range a couple of days ago with my SR9 and got at least 4 failure to ejects out of 80 rounds. I'm attributing it to the ammo, since I'm using reloads. Going back tonite with some new Sellier & Bellot. Will report back tomorrow.

I believe it was the ammo causing the FTE's. Looks like the rims on the cases that FTE'd were damaged or smooth. Went through 300 rounds of new Sellier & Bellot without incident.
