Check out Jeff Quinn's video over at Gunblast.com. At approximately 6:00 into the video he holds up a sign that says Ruger SR-30, and says that he cant say anything else about it. Im guessing its a 7.62 AR platform. Pretty exciting!

You know, the more I think about it.....the SR30 could also be a 30 shot 22 mag pistol like the kel-tec. I might have jumped the gun by posting this in the rifle forum. I guess we will soon find out.

I to am thinking XGI. Utilize the mags from the scout rifle. If this is the case and the price is right I can see springfield losing a bunch of M1 business.

XGI would be neat, however, I am inclined to say no chance. The XGI didn't have 14 picatinny rails and sport a monochromatic flat black-tical paint job. I doubt that Springfield has anything to worry about.

I'm gonna guess a mini 14 chambered for 30 M1 carbine. If I'm wrong, nobody will ever notice this post. If I'm right, I can gloat about being such a genius.

If that happens, I might buy one immediately after I chase off or capture the monkeys flying out of my butt.

Thanks for the link. Well SR 556 = .223 piston drive so I am betting SR 30 = .308 piston drive AR. The AR 10 is way too heavy and bulky for me but I am sure the Ruger version will be a good rifle.

I was more pleased to see the 77/.17 Hornet as that will make a dandy small varmint and closer range predator rifle. TTT

My guess is a 7.62x39 upper for the SR556 or if Ruger wants to make sure it is a success, a 7.62x39 version of the SR556 but with a lower that will accept AK magazines.

I like how you think. Question remains however; how long will it take them to deliver the goods?

All I'm saying is thus far the "SR" has been followed by the caliber of the firearm. SR9 = 9mm, SR40 = .40, SR22 = .22lr That's all I'm sayin. ;)

Same post in the Ruger Semiauto Pistols forum.

Let's see who is right. Pistol or rifle either way would be interesting.

My guess is it will be a long gun. My reasoning is that the sign being held up says "SR-30". On Ruger's site black, plastic pistols are listed as SRx while black, plastic long guns are listed as SR-x with the "-".

Just my amateur guesswork.

Since Ruger has pretty much turned into a copy cat weapons mill and has cheapened up their flag ship lines by using plastic in place of metal to save .50 cents. And since I'm not a big fan of AR knock offs nor Kel tec knock offs. I'll make my prediction of a Kel tec like AR pistol in the useless .30 carbine caliber with of course a rail system to mount your scout type scope.

READ THE STUFF IN THE LOUNGE ABOUT THE SR-30!

It was a classic joke pulled by Jeff Quinn. There is no SR-30.

And, to answer a comment about Ruger being a copy-cat of other designs. Bill Ruger STARTED it by copying a Colt SA all while IMPROVING upon the design AND made them cheaper to purchase. The American has many features found in different rifles, but it's still a "copy" of different bolt action rifles that has been updated, & designed to be accurate and affordable. The same thing with the SR-22.
The folks at Ruger are looking at different guns, and they see what is a potential good platform, then they put their engineers behind it, redesign things and make them better. The changes & such are good enough to not infringe upon any patents. Remember, they are in the business to make MONEY! Their product is guns. They must make what sells to a LARGE part of the population to stay in business. Black tac-cool types are HOT sellers. Gotta make a profit, or get left behind in the business.
Remember, the younger crowd of NEWER shooter LIKE black tac-cool types of guns. They are our future, so we must be able to give them what they want. Remember, there were folks who scoffed at smokeless powder too.

#1 contender!
Some of you forget about what everybody said about the M77 rifle when it came out in 1968...another copy of the Winchester! Yet Ruger has sold over 2.7 million of them! Somebody sure likes 'em?
How about the #1 rifle? A pretty good fascimile of the Farquaharsen action, eh? The Ruger has been far more successful!
So why not make a good design better? And in that case, is it really a copy?
For that matter, didn't every body just copy the orignal chinese idea by pushing a metal projectile down a metal tube?
And how many times has the wheel been reinvented?
Sorry, I feel I could go on and on with this one.
But its tough to get on Ruger about copying something when all industry pretty much copys everybody else's original ideas.

Dear Ruger...

Remember when you guys made the 357 Max and took the Factory Class Iron Chickens game by storm? Well there's a lot of us who went on to handload that cartridge with Single Shot Pistol bullets and fired them in a Contender Hunter. We had the option of using "low power" 357 Mags, and even .38s - if we were smart-enough to scrub the chamber and not solder our next Max round to the barrel.

Well, we'd like a gun built on a "M77 ultra light" platform. 4 or 5 round rotary mag, sized for 180 gr. spire points. I'd love it to be on a 77/22 platform, but lets be realistic and agree what we're going to handload this with Accurate 1680 to 35 Rem factory levels, therefore we need some receiver meat.

Toss me a line when you have my "hell that's a damn good idea" compensatory model available.
I'd even accept it as a one-off #1A or S1L with the '68 pattern checkering.
