Ruger SR1911

Someone will probably get upset over this, but tough beans.

We see SO many threads started about "will the sr1911 accept/fit la-de-da"

Well, hate to burst your bubble, but the Ruger web page on the SR1911
says:

Accepts standard, aftermarket 1911 parts and accessories.

That means it is a STANDARD, Series 70 (per the same web page).

P.S. That same page also says it uses Novak sight cuts.

Interesting post, but not quite correct relative to "That means it is a STANDARD, Series 70"...meaning that Ruger's version of the "70-Series Gov't Model" is missing Colt's collet bushing, which means that it also uses a different barrel profile. The Colt uses different sights too, as well as different sight mounting systems. Then there's the replaceable plunger tube Ass'y on the Colt which aint present on the Ruger...
So nope, no interchange happening with any of those parts. Leastways, not without some purty-fair gunsmithing skills and the equipment it takes...
And that's just mentioning some things that can plainly be seen without so much as field stripping the gun.

Point is...there aint no stupid questions, so it's probably better to welcome a question than try to head them all off ahead of time.

In all due respect, me thinks it's more that a lot of folks simply enjoy "changing parts" just for the sake of changing parts. Plus, some folks simply can not afford a high-end 1911 which already has all of the features they want, so they buy a cheaper gun and as funds allow, set about "upgrading" it until it becomes whatever it is that they think they want.
On the other hand, some parts do need changing. You know?...like the suspect front sight on Ruger's SR1911, some of which have been known to sheer-off during use...or the Gov't Model (spur) hammer, if it bites the owner....or ridding one's SD/fighting pistol of Colt's comparatively-fragile collet bushing.

Point is, there's lots of reasons that folks change parts around, any/all of which may-well prompt the question "will this or that part fit my gun". And as I pointed out in my prior post...regardless of Ruger's advertising to the contrary, there really aint a "one size fits all" answer.

Leastways, that's how I see it.
