okay...according to the Ruger site it looks like it was made towards the end of 1956.

WELCOME ABOARD :D looks like you have a flatgate RSS made in 1956,looking at the photo 150.00 was about right  if the gun was parted out ,it would be worth a good bit more than you paid :!: :!: good buy for a shooter flatgate 8) need a photo of the other side,to see if the flatgate is still on it,that is the flat part that you open up with your finger to expose the cylinder chambers :) tough guns and fun to shoot.at 150 dollars guys would buy them all day just for the parts..............

thanks for the info. i will get to look at it tomorrow and will be bringing it home unless something is wrong with it.

Welcome.

Regardless of its appearance, if it functions properly and shoots well, it's worth at least $150.

As mentioned, as loose parts it's worth more than that. You got a good deal.

And I happen to like "experienced" guns. I think they have style and grace.

:) :) :)

Nice Single-Six. A rather rare variation. One of the last "Flat Gates".

The early Ruger Single-Sixes were fitted with the "flat" loading gate in lieu of the more traditional "round" design which was developed by Colt back in mid 1800's. :D
