Ruger made a sweet single shot pistol, known as a Hawkeye, in 1963. It is built on a revolver frame, but instead of a true cylinder, it was a breech block, that pivoted open when unlocked, allowing a single .256 Win round to be inserted. Close the breech, then cock the SA style hammer & fire.
It's not a break action type like the T/C, but it is a true single shot.
Production was about 3300 guns, and they are highly sought as collectors. Some are even shooters,,,,,!

Ruger made a couple of prototype "break open" single-shot pistols, one chambered in .22LR and the other in .22 Hornet as I recall. They utilized the XR3 grip frames. Pictures exist in some of "the books".

saw one many years ago, early 70's guy from the old neighborhood,eastside of Cleveland, off E. 185 th street, combine a Ruger single action frame and some sort of early singlebarrel, rifle?? or a Steven tip up or some such thing, and it was really cool and shot great....ain't rocket science, any machinist ,tool and die maker with the proper tools and lots of time, could put together anything, heck we did it with car antennae ,wood block and rubber bands and a single box nail, and lots of electricians tape 8) :roll: :wink:
