Well; it's close but no cigar OOPS

On a whim I tried the ser no for my Speed Six ( I already have a factory letter from many years ago) , It got the Year and caliber correct but says it is a Single Six, I don't know it the mod # is correct as I would call it , I believe, a GS82.

Model # 01568
Product Line SINGLE SIX
Caliber 38 Spl +P
In Production No
Shipped In 1977

Your problem may be the use of the model number, 01568 instead of the actual model. That, and Ruger's website info on their guns is not always correct. Trust the RENE guide before you trust the factory website. That, AND the actual factory letter which is more often correct.

Their web site has been that way since the day it launched.

More than one of my Six Series double actions are reported as "Single Six".

Their website info is put in by folks who are NOT gun people like we are. Computer types,, and not always knowledgeable about the different guns & models etc.

Yeah - I have a New Model Blackhawk with a serial number lower than what they list for first year of production for that model. So was it an early '74 model? Or did they start the transition over from OM to NM some time in '73?
