I just picked up my new to me 77RS in 22 250 tang safety. It has medium rings, same as were on my old R that I'm now selling. When I set my old 4x12 AO B&L on it, it hits the front sight, not really a surprise. Since I can't put a couple of pieces of popsicle stick under the rings for a shim, I guess I need higher rings. Does anybody know how high the high and extra high rings are. I'd hate to get rings and find out they weren't high enough, and I really don't want the scope any higher than necessary. I can't seem to find anything on actual heights. By the way, I'm not impressed with Ruger selling rings individually. It will be way to easy to wind up with a twisted scope, at least on the old tang safety models.
Thanks

I believe if you go to shopruger.com at the bottom of the list is a scope ring finder, if you know the dimension of your bell I'm betting you'll find what your looking for.

If you have medium rings now for the M77, that would be the #4 and #5 rings. All you need is a #6 ring. Move the #5 to the front and mount the #6 in the rear.

The #5 ring is Rugers high and the #6 is extra high.

rear....front
#4---->#3 = low
#5---->#4 = medium (standard rings shipped with the 77)
#6---->#5 = high
