Ruger rifles are way outside of my area, and I had a quick question on the number stamped, or more likely cast into, the rings. I have an older M77 with the offset height rings. I've never noticed that there are numbers on the rings on this rifle and I don't remember ever seeing them on any of my other Ruger rifles. Does that age them to be newer or older?

Thanks,

Just seeing the pics, it looks that the # stands for the ring height.

Have you taken any measurements of the height to correlate if this is true?

Early 77’s didn’t have the numbered rings. They came out around the time of the Hawkeye rifle and may have been in with the last year or two of the 77 MkII’s. The LC-6 triggers were for the new Hawkeyes also and my latest MkII’s came equipped with them. I’d have to look in the safe to see what’s on which rifle but it would time out to somewhere around 2004-2005 if I was going to guess off the top of my head.

I had a feeling it was for the new units since I don't have any M77 newer than the Mk II but wanted to confirm as I only have one older M77 and it didnt have the numbers on the rings.
