Ruger P95 trigger to P89 question

I'm going to install a P95 trigger into my P89. I've seen the cutout needed for the swinging link on barrel. Question is whether or not I'll need to leave that lip on the face of the trigger at the top? Pros and cons? Thanks, Adam from NC.

There is a write up on here someplace, try to search for it. I left the front lip on mine.

Main thing with any gun mod is to be safe and be sure it will function and remain safe.
