Ruger P95 review

I like the P95 so much that I own two of them. Now I am getting started on SR9C's. The more you shoot the P95 the more you will like. Pops

Glad you like it. I like mine quite a bit. Very under-rated gun. I do wish I was in Montana! Visited there a couple of times, and I love it there. If I could get a job there, I would leave today!

The only cons I can find, and believe me I looked for them, was 1) The clips springs are really tough out of the case, so loading more than 11 bullets in a 15 round mag gets the thumbs sore

Uplula Magazine Loader

Never again will you have a sore thumb, and you'll reload your mags 10x quicker than those without.

The mags break in after a few reloads -- a year from now they will be absolutely easy to reload!

I second the Uplula magazine loader. Its not a gimmick it really works and is fast.

Thanks for the review. I just appied for Pistol Purchase Permits and was thinking about a P95 with one of the permits. I haven't been able to find anything negative about them.

My understanding is that you can get the P95 with the 15 round mag where you live, but can only get the SR9 with 10 rounds because 15 is the limit in NJ. So, the P95 might have an advantage for you. What all hoops do you have to jump through to buy a gun in NJ anyway?

few points: first as pointed out, you get used to loading the mags after a while with the little loader thingy... and extra mags always is a good idea.

only other pointy is the pistol will function fine in the snow.....

crazy how different gun laws are in other states. This year here in colorado on the ballot is concealed weapon with no permit. I love colorado gun laws.

Also Mr. Weather forgot to tell Aspen that it is spring time and not summer. Almost constant 70+ temps here, 75-85 temps in Denver. crazy.

The P-95 is a great gun. Dependable, accurate, easy operation and an ideal first handgun. I gave my wife one in Feb for V Day, and she is seriously in love with the P-95.

Ferguson: as a law abiding citizen in NJ I have i have to first get a NJ Firearms Identification Card, which involves a background check, finger printing, and near $70 in costs. The NJFID allows me to buy long guns and ammunition. To get a pistol I need a Postol Purchase Permit. This involves another application, background check and $20 for the first permit and $2 each additional permit. The permits take 3-30 weeks depending on municipality; mine is good at 4-6 weeks. 1 permit is good for 1 pistol. The permits last 90 days, with the opportunity to renew them once. NJ has a "One Gun a Month" law which means I have to wait 33 days between purchases. (Only in NJ does a month last 33 days). With the PPP and FID I can do face to face purchases without an FFL, with NJ residents only. When buying a gun at an FFL I still need to pass a NICS check - $17 out of pocket.
That is the NJ rundown. And yes, I was looking at te P95 because of the 15 round Mags and because I Love Ruger guns.
