So I went down to the LGS today and I had to jump on a used Ruger P85 that was in the case, the price point was just too good to not jump on it, gun was marked at $295 and I had a $100 gift certificate, so I ended up walking out with it for $195 :)

Uh .... you DO realize that you DID pay $295 ..... right ????? :D

REV

You could have bought anything with that 100 cert right? So you spent 300 bucks.

Hate to say it but I agree with Rev. HAHA

Or another way to look at it is you could have got a brand new P95 for 250.

350 - 100 cert = 250. (at least the 95's are 350 around here.)

Ah I see what you guys mean, well the P95's around here are close to $400 new but I wanted a steel gun and this one is like 95%+ so its like a new one anyways.

Hey EricandSueBee, I look at it as "your" story, and who are we to ruin the illusion? If'in I had a gift certificate I assure you my selling point would be that it would only cost me x-$100. My bride banker would buy that logic 8)

Enjoy your p85! Is it ss or blued? Slide marked mkii or just p85? The 85 is known to function with any kind of ammo while being the least accurate of the P guns. Everyone who appreciates or collects the P series must have a p85 as it's the original that started it all. Pics? Btw you spent 195 but paid 295. Good buy no matter how you slice it IMO.

That's a great price, I wish I could find Ruger pistols so cheap around here...paid ~$500 for mine P89DC (brand new, long stored) and that was a special offer of local gunshop. Have fun with new toy!

Stainless steel, its marked with just P85. yeah will have some pics up in a day or so got a month old baby thats been taking time up so she comes first :)

Congrats on both your babies!!

Please do post pics. An old stainless 85 is nice to see.

And don't get me wrong, I'm sure some would say I over spent on a few items too. Deals are deals to the people that make them. As long as you are happy and it sounds that you are that is what really matters.

Wish I had a nice stainless 85 too!

The right side safety lever should be marked MKII in small letters. If not it has not been sent back to Ruger for the safety upgrade. You can go to rugers site for more details. If Im not mistaken P85 marked only SS guns are scarce compared to blued or ss MKII models. Pics!

Yeah I just checked it does have MKII in very small letters on the left side safety lever. I'll definately get pics up very soon for all to see.

Don't listen to Rev, he hates P-series guns. :D

You got a fine gun at a reasonable price. Have fun with it!

BTW, congratulations on your new baby (no not the gun, the other one).

My wife and I are expecting #2 in a few weeks. Kids are great.

Thanks Sargents!

She truly is a gift and with her being our first as well makes it even more special :)

Just got a P85 a month ago. Didn't have the stamp. Sent it back to Ruger they fixed and cleaned up real nice. If they are rare maybe I should have left it alone.

Looks good. Now go out and shoot it 'til its hot.

Gotta love those Winchester White Box 100rd value packs they sell at WalMart. When I started shooting 9mm those were 10.88$, I kick myself for not spending a couple hundred dollars back then...If I had, I would have had a pile of ammo so big I would still be working on it.

Those are about 22$ now and they are still a good deal.

BTW, the Hogue wraparound grip for the P85/89 is a nice upgrade from the original plastic grips. Cheap too at about 15$.

I noticed you are From New Hampshire. If you havent already, you should check out Riley's gun shop.

My Uncle Mark always spoke highly of those folks and they have it all from new/used guns, ammo, reloading supplies, you name it. I usually make it over there at least once a year just to look (who am i kidding, I buy when I go).

Cheers,
