I am seeking some sort of support group to "stop the madness".

In the last 6 months, I have been selling and trading non No.1's and buying more No.1's.

Just picked a NIB No.1B in 308. Mounting a scope on it today. NIce!
Paid for that by selling Thompson Center Encore and barrels.

Just won a GB auction for a NIB No.1A in 204. Should be here next week.
Paid for that by selling M77's.

My collection of long guns consists of 9 No.1's, Ruger Gunsite Scout and an AR in case of Zombie attack.

At some point this madness must stop because I have nothing else to trade or sell for my next No.1.

I guess that I could live without that Scout rifle....

The AR is for possible Zombie attack....That is not going to happen, right?

I could get me two more No.1's
:D

Or, I could go "cold turkey" and get some help.

Greetings,

You have come to the right place, and admitting you have a problem is the first step to a cure. I am sure there are people here that would be happy to take some of those 30 caliber rifles off your hands at a fair price.

Tell me about it...

The worst is yet to come. Be very afraid!

I went the same route five years ago and sold off all my non-Ruger#1s except for a Mannlicher Schoenauer and a few bolt rimfires. I then plunged deep into the #1 madness even so far as to winnow out all but one of the SS #1s I owned in favor of wood & blue models. A few bolt guns have crept back into the mix but I now have over three dozen Ruger #1s including a bunch that never left the Ruger works in their current configurations -- like a .338-06 and .38 Federal, a 41 Magnum, a .35 Whelen 1H, a 9.3x62, and a 7mm BR.

There is no antidote.

I have shot all of mine and try to organize my weeks into a rotation of No.1's. In this way, I can shoot each one every 90 days or so.

Here is my list:

No.1 A 204 Ruger
No.1 A 6.5x55 swed
No.1 A 7x57
No.1 A 30-06
No.1 B 223
No.1 B 308
No.1 RSI 7x57
No.1 H 405 Win
No.1 V 6mm Rem

As you can see, there are many slots that still need filling.

How can I stop without a 30-30, 270 or 243.

Ya best get a 9.3 x 74r and a .35 whelen..........Coogs. P.S., a .303, a .30-40 Craig and even an ole .257 Roberts will help.

Just saying....I don't see that you have a problem.

Maybe I'm the one in denile?

!..405 Win.
2. 300 H&H
3. 7mm Mag
4. 30/40 Krag
5. 264 Win. Mag.
6 25/06
7 7x57 1-A
8 7x57 RSI
sold my 6.5x55 and 250 Savage. I think my next No.1 will be in 6.5 Creedmoor

patrickjames,

That is a nice line up of No.1's and we have some of the same models.

How did you manage to separate yourself from your 6.5x55 swed?

:?:

That rifle is one of my favorites with its light recoil and hard hitting rounds.

6.5 Creedmoor is interesting. Have never fired one. :(

I don't have it to bad...yet.
#1V 243 Win
#1B 257 Roberts
#1B 22-250 non-prefix
#1V 22-250 pre-warning
#1V 25-06 pre-warning
#1 470 NE

Lots of ways to spend money, many are much worse then spending on nice guns.

rowdy1972,

That is the most No.1's I have ever seen in one place. Is that a private collection or a museum?

Ohiosam,

I agree with your statement about "different ways to spend money". I have friends that go to casinos every weekend. In the long run, I do not think they have much to show for it. They do seem to enjoy themselves. I might need a few more of those V models.

Rowdy it looks like you are well on your way to owning every single #1 Ruger ever made

All kiddin aside you have an awesome collection!! :D

I had the sickness for a number of years and had a dozen or so nice #1's. Now I have 3 that are my hunting core rifles.

K1-A 35 Whelen
1-A 7x57
1-S 7mm Rem Mag

Right now I am happy with these....but you never know!

Dave

I only own three. A 416 Remington, a NIB 404 Jeffrey that I wisely bought when they came out in the 1994, and this stainless 405 Winchester:

And like others rowdy1972, I'd love to know how long it took to amass all those.

Dang,rowdy.......i got this "tingling sensation running down my leg"!

Hope you have the best of the best in security systems.

My few are all 1B's......
22/250 (1968)
220 Swift
22BR
257 Roberts
25/06
270 WBY
338/280 Ackley

I bought my first No1 in 1973 been collecting them ever since. Most of the non-prefix guns ive purchased in the last three yrs. They are quite secure,my biggest fear is fire.I enjoy them and there a lot more fun than a 401K.

Rowdy, That is an amazing collection. I have 15 Number 1's, but after seeing your collection, I decided to order another one today!

Davidson's has some in 405 Winchester on sale right now at a decent price if anyone is interested.

I took my new 308 B out on Wednesday and sighted in with the optics I mounted. It was very hot so I only fired 10 rounds and headed inside to the A/C.

It is times like this that helps me understand why I am so mad about the Ruger No.1. They are awesome!

This B model in 308 has light recoil and a very nice factory trigger. I just sighted in on a rock and after 5 rounds I was getting solid hits.

I will take it out again soon and shoot paper to better sight it in.

Nikon 3x9x40 Coyote optics. :) :D

I only have a single No.1, but I really love it! Its a classic caliber with classic style that I truelly just enjoy looking at....I don't care that its still in production. Any No.1 just seems special. Its a 7x57 RSI, hope to own a No.1 in .308, .475L, and 45-70 some day.

I only have two Number Ones, both 1As. I've had a 7x57 for about 10 years and then bought a .303 British last year. I hunt with them about 80% of the year. I still take out a bolt gun sometimes though. I don't think I'll buy any more (though I'd love a .257 Roberts and a .35 Whelen, but have both those in bolt guns) as I wouldn't get to use the two I have as much. More guns means you use each one less. I really like the two I have and think the two old time cartridges suit the styling of the 1A very nicely.

Also, I'm not a big fan of stainless Number 1s or new chamberings like the short mags etc. I think Ruger should be commended for their runs of Number 1s in old time classic cartridges over the past few years.
