Ruger Mini-30 heat shield

Hi, long time Ruger fan, just joined this forum.

I have a newer Mini-30 which I just refit with a wooden stock, as I just like the feel better than the synthetic. While I'm remodeling this rifle, I had a nostalgic 80's A-Team urge to find stainless mags and a heat shield. Googling hasn't turned up much yet, just a few sites with nickle plated steel mags out of stock.

Before I send a black mag out to be stripped and nickle plated, I was wondering if anyone here knew of a source?

More importantly, I was wondering if anyone knew a source for stainless heat shields for the top of the barrel? I'm a hobby blacksmith and know the THEORY for making one, but copying a part like that with enough precision for a good fit is quite a stretch for me.

They might work in your rifle, or they might not...but that's the nature of aftermarket mags.

No idea where to get a stainless hand guard. My guess is that there aint no such critter.

Stainless steel retains heat very well so I would be VERY hesitant to use a stainless heat shield on a Mini-20. I know from experience that, at a good long range session, the barrel can get really hot. To have a metal heat shield trapping and holding that heat just seems like a bad idea.

It would look pretty cool but I bet some burned digits would be the end result.

I may have a stainless Steel mag laying around... not sure but private message me if you want me to check... but it will be aftermarket If I do and no guarantees on it.

I have 3 twenty round mags, never seen a stainless or nickel one.

Ron's a GREAT guy and he will do your magazines for $10 each, maybe less if you send him several plus your heat shield.

Try ProMagIndustries for your stainless mags. They fit and work as well as the ruger ones.
