I have a ruger M77 Target in 6.5mm Creedmoor and I would like to mount a sightron S3 8-32x56 scope on it. the 56mm objective seems to be presenting me some challenges in that nobody is really saying that it will work.

I was wondering how other people solved this conundrum.

I am think the leupold extra-high rings is as high as I can get or the warne high rings.

Here is a review of the sightron scope as it compares to a nightforce. Good stuff at a good price point. Much like ruger's in general.

The old scope is going on my ruger #1

If the Leupold high rings don't provide enough height you can use the Ruger to Weaver adapters and then use the high Weaver-type rings or any ring that will fit the Weaver-style bases.

Whats wrong with your setup? As long as the objective isn't touching the barrel it should be fine.

I have a Sightron S2 Big Sky 3.5-10x50 on my 6.5 Creedmoor MKII Target, I like it and its a heck of a gun.

the scope in the picture is my old scope. Its a burris 3-10x40 that is now on my new Ruger #1.

Rings are expensive and I dont want to waste time and money trying things that dont work. Not when its possible to learn from others.

What kind of rings do you have with your 50mm?

So I went ahead and ordered the burris weaver base and the high rings.

This sightron scope is something to behold though. Very nice.

In any case I misordered the wrong weaver base and I should be getting the right one tomorrow or tuesday.

I have a Leupold VXIII B&C LR 4-14x40 w/ 30mm tube on my Ruger M77 MKII VLE. I used the Ruger combination 4B30 and 5B30 rings. It still has plenty of room for a larger scope.

Ruger suggest the combination 5B30 and 6B30 rings for a 52mm scope.

Also, I suspect that you will want to get something to raise your comb.

I went with the Cabelas Beartooth Comb Raising Kit

You can get high rings from Ruger. I have 3 M77-VT's, all with 50mm scopes. Ruger swapped my "new-in-box" rings for high ones for no charge. I can't say if they would handle a 55mm scope or not. If you have a recent catalog check the ring listing in the back.

Looks like the Weaver base and BUrris rings worked out well for you.

Might want to check the rear ring screw tightness. Looks like you have one tightened more than the other. The gap between the ring halves should be equadistant and parallel when torqued to specs to avoid ring damage to the scope finish. Just a suggestion based on what I see in your last picture.
