I am trying to add the Hunter Bisley (revolvers) models to my Ruger collection and hope that some of you forum members can help...I contacted Ruger and was told that info was not available. I'm looking for info on those models that were made, specifically:

How many 45 Colts were made and of that number, how many had the Bisley grip? Also were they all made for Lipseys or were some regular catalog items?

How many 41 mags were made and of that number, how many had the Bisley grip?

How many 17 HMR and 22 convertibles were made and of that number, did any have the Bisley grip?

Thanks.

Check out this thread and maybe send member Quarterbore a PM as he used to collect 'Hunters' I think.

First,, Ruger doesn't list or publish production numbers.
The best info on such stuff is the RENE.
Now,, w/o me doing a search in my RENE guide,, I can't answer the questions about the 45's & 41's,, but the 17 HMR convertable was only made in the Hunter version and not with the Bisley grip. It's production numbers were 250 or less.

Lipsey's site can give you numbers on the .45 Hunter's as I do not believe they were ever offered by any other vendor. The Standard .41 Hunter is still listed on Ruger's web site so I suspect it is still a cataloged item as sold by Davidson's. (now try finding when one will be available is another thing all together) While Davidson still lists the .41 Bisley Hunter, Ruger does not list it.

So, according to Lipsey's 392 Bisley 45's were made and 823 Standard 45 Hunters were made. They can be found for sale but prices are pushing $1000.
