hello,

I recently purchased a "tactical gray" 556 ar15. I absolutely love it. I would like to swap out the hanguard for a 15 inch keymod or mlok. I would like the same color gray that is found on the rifle. is there a way to determine what rails are the same color as the rifle?

You could contact Ruger and see if there "tactical gray" is a Cerakote color and see if they will give you the Cerakote color number. If so then anyone who does Cerakoting can get that color and do the forearm the same color.

Otherwise, take your AR to a gunsmith who does Cerakoting and he can try to match it up with his Cerakote color chart/swatches.

Or it might be another type of coating and hopefully Ruger would tell you what it is.

Just checked it out on the Ruger site and it looks like it is a distributor special and the upper and lower are anodized to get that color. In that case you could take it to a place that does Cerakote and they should be able to get pretty close if you can't find any/get any other info about the color on the stock and forearm.

thanks for the reply. I was about to contact ruger on Monday. it really is a very nice rifle. it is one of my favorite ar15s.
