I have a Ruger 4 inch full lug GP 100 in 357. How feasible to turn it into a 44 special with 5 inch barrel? Anyone here do that before?

I am sure the frame can take the 44 special

Thanks for your input

Yes it's possible! I almost had Dave Clements do mine 10 years ago. He is out of business now and sure it will cost a bit more now.

Are you aware that there was a run of GP-100 in .44 with a 5 inch barrel? Lipsey's: https://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail?itemno=RUGP4451

Maybe not exactly what you want since it's blued.

Anyway, I'd start looking to see if I could find a GP-100 .44 cylinder if I were interested in going this route. From there it's just a barrel swap and timing adjustment (provided the barrel shanks as the same, they might not be...).
