Ruger DAs

You'd think somebody should write one ....... there's several members here (not me, BTW) who know a great deal about them and their history!

There is plenty of great info on this Forum. Maybe some of the big brains here can at least index the posts. JMO.

There is a AGI video on Ruger Double Action Revolvers. Not sure I agree with some of Bob Dunlaps opinions on Rugers, he seems a bit biased against them and Bill Ruger. But if you want a general over view of the Ruger DA design this is as good as anything out there I guess. Covers the GP and Redhawk in detail but mentions the small differences in the Sixes design, they are very similar.

There are two: Jerry Kuhnhausen's excellent "The Ruger Revolvers A Shop Manual Vol. I" and the sporadically available "Iowegan's Book of Knowledge for the Ruger Security -Six, Speed-Six, Service-Six, and Police Service-Six."

Jerry Kuhnhausen's guide to 'Ruger Double Action Revolvers'
is still the best for simple disassembly, cleaning, tuning and overhaul.

DB30,
Right now as far as the different variations go,,the RENE is the best bet for those who collect the D/A Six's.
I don't know who or when but sooner or later someone will write a book for Collectors of these guns,,,and it will sell like hotcakes.

As far as how they work, and how to fix them,,the guys above have answered that.

Thanks for the replys. I have the shop manual....very helpful. I was thinking more of a reference for the various models.

Short Book? Put in bullets, protect ears, pull trigger try to not flinch when it goes bang! :) Mildly clean it once in a while.

My 1978 Security Six is as accurate as when it was made. Has never failed to go bang and has always held to tolerances! Except for some holster bruising, looks great still.
