Don't have 00129 but I do have 150-00046 and 150-00141 Security Sixes and my India .380 RIMs are 161- and 162- (4" Police Service Six and 2 3/4" Speed Six) and some other odd balls (low back frame with 151- s/n and high back frame with 150- s/n).

That ".380" revolver is actually what we would call a .38 Smith & Wesson (not a .38 Special). The Indians had a lot of old British .38/200 service ammo, and wanted to be able to shoot it. The .38/200 uses a case identical to the .38 Smith & Wesson.

Another Ruger D/A Collector shared this with me so I'll do the same for you.

Tom Murtha, son of Art Murtha who was a friend of Bill Ruger wrote this about this lot of ammo.
Dad got this from Ruger. It was supplied to Ruger by the Indian Government for testing on their revolver Service Six contract This part of the surplus. I have a bunch of it if someone wants more or less. This is late 1970's vintage where the quality is much better than recent production. I tested 12 with no issues.

The 380 Rim was also used in Hong Kong until the Brits turned it over in 1997. The 380 Rim, 38-200, and 38 S&W are all the same cartridge.
The 380 Rim is exactly like a 380 ACP except it has a rim so moon clips aren't necessary in the Speed-Six. The 380 R shoots a 9mm bullet (.355") in the 100 grain range. A 38 S&W will chamber and shoot but it has a .358" lead bullet. The good news is the 38 S&W cartridge has very low chamber pressure and most are loaded with soft lead bullets so it won't hurt the revolver.

Lovemedals, I think I bought a snubbie Sec Six in stainless (with box) from you a number of years ago. I remember thinking at the time what a premium price I was paying. LOL …. My how times have changed.

God has smiled on me and I’ve really had access to some great double actions because of my involvement here.

That's a great low serial number Security Six, that's grail that every collector wants to find, a single digit s/n gun for their collection.

The extra cylinder was probably added at a later time though, I know of no Six Series guns that ever came from the factory with an extra cylinder, different caliber or the same caliber. Did it come with just the cylinder or as a complete assembly (with the crane assembly attached)?

Oh yeah! I’ve got a low back 4 inch stainless too …. With box and shipper. Maybe my Six Series holy grail.

Also have a low back 2.75” FIXED sight Security Six in 38 Special. Don’t know how odd it is but, I was glad to get it. Only own it because a member here was vacationing in AZ and saw it in a gun store. Thank God he’s a single action guy!
