Can someone please tell me how the recoil pad is attached to the Ruger American. Is it glued or screwed?
I just ordered a Ranch in 223 with the short stock, figured it would be easier to add than to take away.
Thanks

There are two small holes, one at the top, one at the bottom of the recoil pad. Stick in a small Phillips head screwdriver and unscrew.

When you take the pad off you might find a small piece of styrofoam in the buttstock as the "stuffing"--at least that's what I found in mine.

It is probably there to deaden the aggravating hollow thunk sound that cheap stocks produce.

I reinforced and filled the buttstock with epoxy to take some of the flex out--works much better than a hunk of styrofoam.
