Purchased a gen 1 5.56 , from my research a gen w stock should fit. Purchased a gen 2 ar mag stock , rifle fits fine in stock but the ar mag is about 1/4" from locking in. Thoughts on this?

Did your Gen1 have the flush fit magazine? If it didn't have a removable magwell, it cannot be converted to the AR magazine.
