Ruger 22 cal pistol

I inherited a Ruger 22 cal pistol from my father. I'm trying to figure out when it was manufactured and value. The serial number is 459741. I believe he has had it since the 40's or 50's. Would anyone be able to help me? Would appreciate it. Thanks.

Welcome to Ruger Forum. Hmm, well, this IS the Revolver section, however your saying Pistol.

I'll assume you mean Revolver and that s/n was most likely shipped in 1966.

If it's indeed a semi auto Pistol then more like '67.

There's an old saying used by Real Estate folks that states the value of a piece of property is directly related to it's LOCATION. Well, with guns it's the exact CONDITION, along with the presence of interesting/rare features, that dictates the value. In addition, if your Father was "famous" then the value could be enhanced.

Jayhawhuntclub is right, pistol predates automatics by a loooooong stretch. Sam Colt dubbed his 1836 Paterson belt revolver a "revolving pistol". Regardless of what the industry (the same industry that perpetuates .45 "Long" Colt and "clips" instead of magazines) does these days, "pistol" is perfectly correct for reference to a revolver. And "sixgun" is perfectly suitable for reference to a 5-shot, 7-shot, 12-shot or anything else that is not six.

All that nonsense said, the OP is very confusing and incomplete. We need more information.

This is the Ruger Forum. and if you ever go to the "RUGER" website and look for info regarding a REVOLVER in the PISTOL section. You are going to have one hell of a time and I wish you luck.

Ruger makes Revolvers.
Ruger has never referred to a Ruger Revolver as a Pistol.
