Love the various "colors" early guns can exhibit.

Refresh my memory,, do you seek the Type 1 Flatgates,, or the Type 1 Round gates. I'm thinking the Flatgates.

I found a Type 1 Round Gate today.

nice looking versions , and are the result of the "batch" made up for the casting and the mix was NOT stirred/mixed enough, too much of one type of metal in the 4140 chrome -moly "batch" being too close to the surface and will NOT take a blue, will not darken, and thus cause the lightning like streaks in the surface metal (casting) most gun makers frown on this happening as it is a "defect" and folks like Winchester collectors hate it but some of us Ruger collectors just gotta love them "defects" ( did NOT like to see "plum" when we owned the bluing company back in the 70s, those parts went back in the tank, again, a defect in the bluing process most of the time, but NOT in the case of the Ruger castings of various parts, it was the "mix" of the metals ingredients............blue it , it will turn red again down the road,,,ultraviolet light can speed it up........Winchester chrome steel parts ( ala barrels) turn up the temp at the end of a bluing bath run (cycle), and re run it a couple of times and the chrome barrels would turn blue, and stay blue...........:cool::rolleyes:;)

There were no type one's (serial #1 to 20XX) shipped with a round gate. The round gate did not ship until about 61,000 serial number.
BUT, there was dislike of the flat gate and Premier Weapons Company made a round gate, and many folks replaced the flat gate with a Premier.
I collect any type 1, regardless of weather or not they were modified outside the factory.
Please PM me if the one you found is for sale.

Actually,, if you look in the RENE Guide,, there is a "Type 1 Round Gate" which follows the "Type 3 FlatGate" models. Serial number range of 58895 to 117805.

The one I found today was a Type 1 Round Gate.
