Yes, RIP. Was watching Fox and they were talking about his lying in state . How they will do that and certifying the election on the 7 th . May cause turmoil....
A very good man. He chose to make a difference with his life.
Not many live to be 100. Didn’t think much of his presidential decisions, but believe he tried to be a good man. May he rest in peace

I voted from him. I was in college, didnt know any better and listened to the MSM about the evil Republicans. Even wrote a letter to the editor. Forgive me of my sins.

I voted for him My father was part of his campaign team for which he received no thanks. Carter was Ok but surrounded by people who were not of a high caliber. I got to meet the man. His policies were, well, they were not exactly fitting. His humility was refreshing. Certainly his post Presidency work was inspiring if one believes in doing for others. He was CIC so the disaster in the desert rests upon him rightly or wrongly. History will be kind to him.
And yet no one seems to remember his failure to act presidentially. He left 53 Americans, including his employees to suffer at the hands of terrorists.
Literally, minutes of Reagan being president caused Iran to crawfish and agree to release the hostages. Carter had 444 days and accomplished nothing.

I too voted for him when he lost to Reagan my first time voting for a President. I wasn’t influenced by media but by my Father, a life long democrat. Four years later voted for Reagan and have voted Republican ever since. I remember my Dad asking me “what’s happened to you?” Told him I vote to keep my rights, not to give them up.

Which is amazing. He seemed to age 100 during his presidency. I believe that alone shows how much he cared.
Unfortunately his caring didn’t make him effective.

At the time I figured it was just a way to insult Carter. I didn’t think Reagan had anything to do with the release.
I remember flags being at half staff seemed like forever.

Let us also recall the assistance of the Algerians in negotiating the release of hostage. Unfreezing Iranian assets in the USA. It was not RR personally. It was a new POTUS being sworn in. Iran was pissed at Carter for the failed military "adventure". Still, If I were in the Iranian high command, RR would worry me more than some Dems at the time.

I was in the Army under Pres. Carter. The only President I ever met. I wasn't impressed with him or his policies,, and had not voted for him.
I left the Army 4 days into the hostage crisis.
I was pizzed at the horrible way the rescue operation went. I also knew it wasn't entirely his fault. He had military leaders who ALL wanted in on the rescue, (and the good press if they achieved it,). But Carter made the ultimate decisions,,, and was not a strong CIC.
I fully respect his humanitarian work after he left office. But sadly,, I also think he spent too much in efforts abroad vs right here at home. Maybe I'm selfish. But I put Americans first over ANY other country. Fix stuff here,, THEN see what you might can do elsewhere. He did a lot of good here,, I'll concede that. But put Americans FIRST, always.
But one part of his life I truly admire is his devotion to his wife. 77 years together is an excellent record,, and I never heard any hint of infidelity. For that,, I truly respect him.

President Carter was a pretty nice guy and I liked him. Unfortunately he was not a good President; he didn't have the personality for it and was very ineffective. As others have said; a better ex-President than President. A truely nice person that had no place in politics.
You know, just to make a slightly political comment... it is a sad state we are in when we say a good God fearing, religious, faithful to his wife honorable man was not qualified to be president.
For sure but then again, I'm a good God fearing man who while married was faithful to his wife is not qualified to do brain surgery, or to be president either :-)

Carter met all of the Constitutional qualifications to be POTUS. However, his performance of the job sucked.
