Or are you just a bitter crank?
Hi,
When I first posted the news of Ms. Franklin's passing, I considered putting in a note to the effect of "If you can't say something nice, say nothing" based on experience here that many people have their one preferred musical genre, and firmly believe every other one is pure cr(ud), and worse than that, everyone who performs those offending types of music is some kind of spawn of the devil.
But I thought, "No, I was taught not to speak ill of the dead who can't defend themselves" and I know others here were taught the same way. So giving ALL of our members the benefit of the doubt about having some manners, I left out such a disclaimer. That was my fault, and my mistake, for which I apologize. As I suspected would probably happen but wanted to hope wouldn't be the case, someone just had to be a bumwipe about a singer many of us liked for her talent and the quality of her work regardless of the foibles in her personal life.
Looking back at Doc Holliday's posts, there are quite a few which point to the idea his life hasn't been a great success compared to many, and he somehow seems to think putting them down for making something of themselves makes him a better person. So I'll say this to your face, Doc: that seems to be the case in this thread, and no amount of your feeble backpedaling is going to change my mind. I think anyone who does that is wrong and brings nothing to the forum in so doing. You don't have to agree with a single word I say, and my feelings won't even come close to being hurt if you add my name to your "foe" list. Or you decide to go elsewhere to a venue where people can "handle the truth" as you suggest we can't here.
That being said, my vote is an "x" beside "bitter crank."
